Live Premier League Fixtures: 13th August 2011

It's the big kick off this weekend and and it can't come quick enough, as this is a relatively new blog it is still very much a work in progress which I'm hoping to have completed this weekend.  The blank square at the top of the screen will be filled soon with rotational images and the sidebar will have lots of gadgets for you to enjoy, please support me here and follow through Google or via the RSS.  Facebook and Twitter pages are still being worked on and you will also be able to follow through Networked Blogs.  So to start we will have a look ahead to this weeks fixtures.

Live on ESPN at 5.30pm Newcastle United v Arsenal from St James Park

Neither of these sides have had what you would call a settled pre season campaign, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger looks resigned to the fact he will be loosing his two biggest stars with Samir Nasri looking likely to join Manchester City and Cesc Fabregas of course on route to Barcelona.  Newcastle on other hand were going quite well to begin with signings were made and it appeared that the £35m paid for Andy Carroll would be spent, things went sour though leading to Joey Barton Tweeting about problems at the club and no major striker signed as yet.

Arsenal have a full squad other than the two mentioned above but Newcastle also look strong on paper, the last meeting between the two saw a 4 - 4 thriller, a thriller that I don't think will be repeated this weekend but could well see the Toon Army take all three points.  My prediction Newcastle 1 - 0 Arsenal.

Live on Sky Sports 1 West Brom v Manchester United Sunday 14th August 2011 Kick Off at 4pm

The Premier League champions are starting their campaign with their eyes set firmly on a 20th league title.  It's been a very settled pre season for them as always and they are in many peoples eyes the favourites to be crowned champions again at the end of this season.  West Brom on the other hand were involved in the relegation battle last season, that is a battle they are not likely to be to far away from this season.

You have to go for Man Utd in this fixture although they are famed for slow starts, they will surely pose to much of a threat for West Brom to hold off.  My prediction Man Utd 3 - 0 West Brom.
